Dorset property owners 'get cheaper home insurance'

People with luxury homes in Dorset, as well as those in modest
abodes, may be able to get cheaper home insurance than those
located in other areas of the UK.
This is according to moneysupermarket.com, which found that the
average cheapest premium for individuals living in Bournemouth was
£103.98.
It was the least expensive city and it was followed by York - which
was second in the list at £109.22 and Glasgow at
£110.73.
Meanwhile, Greater London postcodes are among some of the most
expensive to secure cover for, with parts of Barnet and Dulwich
averaging more than £279 for the cheapest policies.
Julie Owens, head of home insurance at moneysupermarket.com, said:
"Many homeowners just don't realise their postcode is a big
contributing factor to how much they pay for their home insurance
premium and that it can really hike the price."
And the cost of buying a home in the capital may be rising, with
the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors recently revealing
that 55 per cent of surveyors polled reported positive price
sentiment last month.
