Survey finds growing number are positive about buying

More people believe now is a good time to buy property and feel
mortgage repayments are less likely to be a problem, a new poll has
found.
The survey by the Building Societies' Association, carried out
earlier this month, found that 46 per cent either agree strongly or
would tend to agree that now is a good time to buy.
In September the figure was 34 per cent and in July it was 27 per
cent, indicating that this sentiment is improving.
Running in parallel with this is an increasing confidence that
mortgages are payable, with only 37 per cent suggesting repayments
could be difficult to manage, compared with 54 per cent in
September and 70 per cent in July.
The survey found the one factor that may put people off was concern
about the economy.
In other mortgage news, recommendations contained in the Crosby
Report to help boost the UK mortgage market should be implemented
now and not be put off until the Budget next year, the Home
Builders Federation has said.
